I have designed the gauge faces I want and did up a laminate of them-laser on paper-laser on transparancy and transparancy over the top.
I used 3m 77 sparay adheasive but it still looks like water droplets between the two clear layers. Any ideas on how to glue 2 clear pieces of plastic
together and not have it show or haze.
Gauges are modelled after 1940-42 criss craft boat gauges The needles are red instead of white so they will glow and the yellow part should be back
lit with blue blacked out from behind so it does not show when lit. Also both counter clockwise like some of the eary 30s guages as well as some of
the criss craft gauges of the era. Both have been rewired and calibrated with frequency generator and scope) to work counterclockwise and be accurate.
The small gauges will be much easier.

One thing to consider is the lightfastness of the pigments in the toner used to print the
dials.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Wool_Scale. The lightfastness of the yellow and red
pigments in general toner is not good. I would suggest taking you file to someone who does point of sale/display work of which lightfastness would be
a primary consideration intheir choice of toners/ink/dyes.
It would be a shame to see your efforts fade away after all your creative work.
If you used something that is wet and flows more (e.g. polyester resin) then you could squeeze the bubbles out before it sets. With those spray glues
you only get one chance and no time to mess around with it. Practice on an offcut first.
That looks like a very nice bit of work. The attention to minute details is something that impresses me.
FWIW: In the UK you would struggle with IVA as the maximum speed of the vehicle must be below the maximum on the speedo, but I guess in Canada you
have more sensible rules than us.
What about an office laminator?

Thanks for the replies, It is easy to make them read just a bit below the real value by just poping the pointers off and reinstalling them and easy to
check with the fequency generator. I may try the laminating but that is going to require me changing the way I mount them. Right now they fit
perfectly into 4 inch pvc couplers. I will try brush on pva glue that is suposed to go clear when dry as well. The faces are cheap once designed (I
did them in illustrator), only a buck a page.
