Tonneau Cover and Boot cover
Krismc - 3/7/11 at 08:47 AM

As im nearly 30, ive been asked what i would like from all the family and they will chip in so............... i was thinking i Would love to get a boot cover some half doors, and a top split tonneau cover made (so i can leave half on) but the only place seems to be soft bits for sevens which might as well be in africa, as its so far from me!!

Is there any company who will do from a pattern or is a lot further up north and is cheap as chips??

ive did plenty of searching on here and online, and its always milton and softbits reccomended but milton is uncontactable and softbits unreachable as im in newcastle. Cost me £200 to get there.

Check out your local yellow pages for a vehicle upholsterer.

Rusty nuts, you need some WD 40 mate.

Ive been one step ahead of you all day today, ive tried all the local trimmers and they only work from patterns or previous seats cut up, so unwilling to give it a go - well one company who is across water in sunderland said they would do it for £300 for a boot cover ha ha ha ha

I thought he ment £300 the lot at first.

Mustnt give discounts to geordies.

I know I say this all the time, and I've botched more jobs than I can count, but you can actually make this stuff for not much. It is very rewarding. Just get a big needle on the sewing machine. You can always ask for other things if someone is going to throw money at you.

I fitted a hood frame and fittings to the screen frame to my car and took it to our local trimmers who made a hood without a pattern in a day. Would have thought any decent trimmer should be able to do the same. Snuggs is in Darlington and I'm sure he said he had found someone that would make a hood if he fitted the frame ? Might be worth getting in touch with him if it isn't too far

Autotrim did mine to my spec in Mohair, about 3 times less than softbits wanted and as good, if not better quality.
