So after seeing a couple of threads on here about altering mileage (one for sale thread for a computer for modern dashes and another about asking where to get it done) I thought I'd take a look af the click set I have in the garage awaiting the car to arrive they will be installed in.

The car I'm picking up has a pinto engine so I acquired from eBay a set of sierra dials as a 'make do and test' setup while I am sorting out the car, which is currently part built and unregistered. The car will also remain unregistered and be used just for track days. So after looking them over I wad amazed how simple it wills be to zero the milage so set about going so and now have a nice set of zero milage clocks which means I can accurately record the cars milage without having to note the clocks original milage, which I thought was a nice touch.

Just thought I'd share this evenings activities, obviously it would be wrong to explain the process on a public forum as clocking a road car is illegal, so I shall refrain from doing so.

you can generally tell with the sierra type displays as the numbers dont usually line up digital will be different

Have lined up ok to be honest, as said as it's only for track car it wouldn't be an issue anyway. Was just amazed how simple it was and how quick it was to do.

Ohh Yes! frighteningly easy to do with analogue gauges.
The Numbers DO line up.. always.. they are on an indexed ratchet system, kinda tough for these not to line up unless damaged in the effort by a numpty. That's just an Old Womans' story:-).
