does this look like the way everyone else has done it?

thought I'd ask before welding!
I would chamfer the plate where it to be welded and move the plate so the face is flush with the side of the tunnel, that way when you tighten the
seatbelt bolt it will not crush the tunnel paneling. I'd weld on both sides but then grind flush the weld on the compartment side (that's
why it needed chamfering) so the panel is not marked. Then weld on the captive nut for the seatbelt bolt, plate should be at least 3mm thick though
I'd use thicker.
The picture is very large and doesnot fit on the screen well, you need to reduce the resolution before posting

I think a triangular shaped plate is definitely better. That way the hole is within the area supported by the welded sides.
With yours now, half of the hole is kinda unsupported (ok, its not that straight forward, but you know what I'm saying)
Hopefully you'll never need them, but if you do, you'd want them to be as good as possible
Also check the position, mine are set further back (mk chassis).

On the positioning - I've already got some mounts that are further back - the new ones are going in as a result of the feedback I got on this

Last weekend I got in the seat with a harness draped across me - if I were to use the mounts that are further back the lower harness belts would be
going backwards at a 45 degree angle - the Willans fitting instructions say they should be going straight down vertically...
Personally i'd put them the other side of the vertical tube. Compromise.
