So I bought some new Luke harnesses to replace my Caterham items (which unbeknown to me were also manufactured by Luke)
I don't understand the lap belt, it seem that it cannot be tightened, as it doesn't have the regular tightening clasp, but it does have two
bolt in anchor points? you can just pull them either direction so they wouldn't remain tight
Can anyone shed any light on how they tighten up - pics below
All my other harnesses have always had one of these on each lap belt too...
Thanks in advance, Olly
I'd guess, looking at the two plates on each side, that you need to set the length then bolt both plates to the mounting point as per the
configuration in picture 3 which will then secure the webbing due to the friction created by its routing.

Sod that for a barrel of laughs, I'll sell it on lol
Fitting instructions here

Same as mine. They clamp the strap in position but mine have separate adjusters.
Cheers Loggy, so in our cars, the harness has to be bolted tight tight before the seat goes in, as you cannot access the bolt once seats are bolt
down.
Therefore, an I right in thinking that as a passenger harness, this is an awful design as each passenger is a different size and shape...?
Am I reading it right that once you've bolted the two end plates together, they can no longer be adjusted?
Yes your ones can't be adjusted without loosening the bolt.
They should have a separate adjuster really to make them usable

Sod it, I'll sell it on and keep my eye out for another.
Thankfully I didn't buy a pair, I bought two seperates
Actually might use this as my driver harness, as that'll never need to be adjusted...
Or buy an adjuster for a tenner?
They are the single seater version, so not intended to adjusted regularly. Better off buying adjustable versions intended for 7s.
Nice one Dave, I'll do that, think they're called slide buckle?
If you find a buckle can you post the solution up. I have the same issue.
If yours are open ended like mine, as daveb666 said you could buy these:

They also sell a set of 4, for £10.99
But I only need 2... As it's only one harness I have this problem with
Over the years I have fitted several new sets of belts to race cars and the ones shown appear to be single seater harnesses and as far as I know they are all the same with the loose ends that need setting up then locking with the bolt. Can be a pain after the Winter lay off and I have put some weight on and find that I have to take the seat out to adjust them.....
