3-point harness onto normal seat belt points? Dutton.

Hi, been a while since I've been on here. I've finally got my old Dutton back in the garage with a view to getting it back on the road and eventually trying to fit a Jago body to it to make a sort of low ride jeep think.

But first things first - currently has an old manual adjust 3 point seat belt (as probably came from the original Mk1 Escort it was built on).

I've picked up some 3 point harnesses I'd prefer to use instead (way too much need to hold on during last few track days). Am I OK to fit these to the standard points given the top will be just off your shoulder rather than directly behind? Obviously would adjust them to be equally tight.

The seats are currently low back buckets. Have plans to fit better seats with harness holes but struggling to find some narrow enough (have a pair of very minimal GRP that I can't squeeze in!).

Any help much appreciated.

I wouldn't want them like that, not going to give you proper support in an accident.
Would be easier enough to add a new mounting or even better, make up a tube that mounts to the two existing seatbelt mounts and loop the harnesses around the new tube.
If you want narrow seats check out the JK composite striker seats. (or any seat intended for a striker as they are very narrow)
