The tintop was showing a bit of wear and tear on the leather steering wheel a fairly common problem on Rover 75s even at moderate mileages. On my one of my previous cars I used leather aerosol paint but it wore through quite quickly and the colour match wasn't great so I eventually bought a new wheel. As the supplies of new Rover Smokestone Grey steering wheels have nowbdried up re-dying the leather looked the best option.

A bit of Googling turned up a supplier Dynamix Leather Care that could supply the original Rover/Landrover Smokestone colour. So I ordered a small (65ml bottle of dye £13 inc p&p).

When the dye eventually arrived ( it took almost a month) I set to work having previously prepared the wheel with Flash Magic Eraser I gave the leather a quick wipe over with methylated spirits and after ten minutes dabbed on the for first coat of dye using the supplied sponge. The result was little short of amazing. The colour match and surface texture is a perfect match to factory finish. The product also was effective in touching up wear and minor chips on the steering wheel air bag cover.
