new gauge options?
mcerd1 - 9/2/16 at 02:00 PM

I'm looking to get myself a set of instruments for the dax, I'm hoping to get the engine running soon and could do with some way of monitoring what's going on inside it....

I'm not a fan of the digidashes, I prefer analog dials and had been looking at the smiths white faced styles but I'm not loving the price!
I am liking the look of the white ETB gauges and the price is better (if not actually cheap) but has anyone got any other suggestions?

I used ETB gauges on my MK Indy a few years ago. Like you I prefer dials to digital and whilst the ETB gauges were a gift I liked them practically and they worked very well. The one issue I had was using the Sierra fuel gauge sender gave a strange reading on the fuel gauge - full tank registered half full on the gauge (luckily empty read empty). Having already fitted the Sierra sender to the fuel tank I was loath to change it and lived with the strange reading. My vote is to use them and enjoy them.

I have had etb gauges on a couple of my cars been very happy with them and the after sales has always been excellent .

True - I too found them to be very helpful when I came to setting things up and installing them.

I am in the middle of planning to replace the dash on my wifes Marlin Roadster

I am going to try this set of white gauges from Car Builder Solutions, looks like good value

I've got a set out of an Astra from about 2006 I like that I'm going to use.

These were my gauges - worked well and IMHO looked good...

ETA...I was lucky enough to have a set of hole-saws which cut the mounting holes to size otherwise I would have had to buy a set - not dear, but would have slowed me down.

From what I can see the new ones are more or less the same as yours but they have the button mounted separately (rather than through the glass)

also the new tacho is in thousands rather than hundreds, which I prefer (for some reason I never liked ones in hundreds)
and they seem to have changed to LED backlights

I'll need to get a 4" hole saw, but I was expecting that....

Noted on the hole saws. IIRC Wolfe do a set of them with a common arbor to fit in a normal drill chuck. As I recall, the hardest part was getting the cut wooden disc out of the hole saw each time.

I gave ETB a call as one gauge wasn't listed with in the colour I wanted on the website...

They were extremely helpful (and fixed the website almost instantly) and my gauges were in the post about 2 working days later - so fast I had to delay the delivery so I'd be their to sign for them

I'm very impressed so far
