There was an article on BBC1's Fake Britain programme about fake harnesses, worth a watch on catch up, it showed key differences and a crash test which all but ripped the dummy's head off.

Scary stuff.

It was big local news about a year ago (I was in school with the trading standards officer) and the dealer selling the fake harnesses was local too.

I think the only way you can stay safe is to only buy new and from a reputable dealer.
