I've always liked the small size of the ETB dash, hence why I bought one. But I was never happy with its surface mounting and inch thick
projection. So with the purchase of my 3D printer this became one of my first projects. After lots of attempts, most to do with tweaking the printer,
some to amend the design I have come up with a beta version.
Obviously the 3d print finish is fairly agricultural so some paint and sanding it now looks pretty good.
Ive design the clips to suit a 3-4mm thick dash fascia.
That looks brilliant, like you I have the same dash and have always thought it just looks plonked on.
What 3d printer is that and how are you getting on with it?

Mine and friends cars are also increasingly getting 3d printed parts attached to them.
I purchased my printer 2 years ago to just learn to process and hardware, never thinking it might be good enough for actual production/finished items.
But that little 100 quid printer has grown to be quite a reliable and useable machine. Whats is yours?

Clip design is an art. Have a look at this and it may help you tweak the holding method a little better.

I design plastic components at work ( Normally injection molded, not additive manufacturing) and for this design, the clip retention against the dash
panel is what will make this part top notch.
Also, I don't know what type of printer this is (SLA?) but the mechanical properties of the plastic can be very different to what you would
expect. The orientation during print can cause weak bonds between the layer that may make the clips more likely to snap, especially when stressed and
vibrated. They also don't like heat changes as the plastic is often formed under stress, so cold clips may snap.
I would carry out some robust testing to make sure the holes don't cause crack propagation or clips snap. Both of these things scan be designed
out, it just takes time.
Don't let my above points get you down. Its a nice idea that I would be interested in once you have a finalised design.

That's really good recon a lot of people would like to buy that. i made one the same around 2010 but made from aluminium, was very fiddly to make, digidash only protrudes from dash by 10mm.

don't work on phone either.
but do work on my ancient win-me machine, and almost work on an ancient ipad. (only shows two of the seven).
I suspect its an ip6 vs ip4 problem, but might be https

Managed to get one trial fitted in to my spare Striker dash.
I have made a further revision to the clips since this was printed making them larger and hopefully more flexible.
If anyone one wants a trial one (straight off the printer, without paint finish I have done to this) then I will buzz a few off at £20 posted so I can
get some feed back before I stick a few on ebay to the general public with painted finish.
How big is the bezzle edge. I want to make sure I have the clearance as I also have a striker dash, but hole for DD2 already.
Bezel is 9mm. Overal height is 108mm.
However I could easily tailor this. The thickness of the frame is 3mm so bezel could be reduced to 5-6mm. But would mean the cut out would need to be
accurately cut.

Well these are proving pretty popular on the various facebook groups ive posted on.
Will be printing constantly for next few days to keep up with demand. (10+hour print per mount!!)

Nice one, wish I had access to a 3D printer. Mine was the old fashioned cling film, fibreglass, filler and pain in my anglia. May have to revisit.
