I'm looking for a pair of seats which are suited to the .... erm .... heavier gentleman
I am not exactly Godzilla at 6'2" and 17 stone but everything I try seems to too snug around my kidney area and shoulders. My biggest
problem is getting enough headroom (I'm long in the body) but legroom is also important - sitting on the floorpan is not far off the mark!
I originally bought a pair of fairly conventional recliners but found myself nearly head & shoulders above the windscreen! I removed the runners,
half the padding, changed the floor mountings but have now admitted defeat
I did see a silver GRP seat which has very thin Neoprene padding called the Montreal but can't find any for sale. Can anyone recommend any other
suitable seats?
You could do far worse than some expanding foam, not always pretty, but it will give you a very good fit and comfortable result.
Being a big bloke myself, i've opted for that foam option, and am quite happy with the position and feel.

I used Intatrim Magellans - ok for the ahem, wider framed drivers amongst us

David,
The foam is not an option for me as looks are pretty high on my list (vain li'l bugger that I am)
Mark,
Coincidentally I had a sit in a Magellan today at the Detling show - surprisingly comfy but how thick is the base? I see that you have decided not to
use the harness holes in your driver seat - too tight on the neck?

When I had the locost, I couldn't fit into the car and drive it with seats fitted. I had no legroom and I was looking over the top of the
windscreen.
I eventually gave up and just sat on the floor.
I almost fit the GTM now, and that actually has seats.
hhmmm - wonder if a non existant seat would pass SVA I would guess that a racing bucket seat would be the best option - nearly on the floor
then.
I remember sitting in a Cobra bucket seat in a shop once - I stood up and the seat stayed attached to by bum!

I havent really got the time, space or expertise to make a mould and I think that carbon fibre will look very out of place in my car.
I am leaning towards a pair of these, but will they be comfortable for 100 mile plus journeys or are they just for track days? ...

I think the problem you may have with the Aeon is the seats need to be really reclined to give much headroom (don't forget helmet room too) - or
to not look over the windscreen if you are not having a roof. Aren't Aeon doing some seats specifically for the car?
Chris
My thoughts exactly Chris, but I have discovered the two seater version (mine) is more limited in head and foot room than I first thought. John at
Aeon incorporated a dropped seat pan (about 50mm) to help with this problem, but my seat back is practically touching the roll bar so I can't
recline any more.
I think the problem is simply too much padding (in both the seat and me!) The answer has to be to trim down a bit so the seat padding has to go (and
maybe weight watchers can help too)
I've not seen the two seat version. Their first car (3 seater) had their own seat that was someone elses seat butchered to increase the angle of recline leaving the seat base horizontal-ish. Might be worth giving John a ring?
John has already said that the mould for a new seat is nearly ready - the car at the Detling show used a standard Westfield seat which wasn't far
off the mark.
The Montreal seat in the pic above looks to be similar in dimensions plus it will have some padding (albeit rather rudimentary) ... and it's
silver
I am just at the point of pulling the covers off a set of mgb seats to narrow just enough to fit. I was suprised at how much side suport the seats
have- hope it stays the same when modded.
I am 245 lbs and 6'4" so I need space as well.

Damn - can't find anyone with stock
RazMan,
Where did you find those Tuning Evolution seats ?
On Ebay - but after placing the order I was told that Raceland didn't have any stock.
The search continues ....
