has anyone used fold down boat seats?

light weight and readily available...

They dont look like they give that much latteral support to me.

If your not worried about that then it could be another viable option for sure.

So, one like this might be better?

last one looks like a kids safety seat......

Will they fit (width)? The second one looks quite wide.

You guys must have wide cars or skinny bodies . When I'm crammed down into my car it's a custom fit - no room for seat bolsters. Seats like those or plain bench seats, some hardboard covered in vinyl, and i'll be snug as a bug.

Last weekend I had a brainwave , dismantled my office chair (a plush leather one ) and plonked it in my GT2. It was a surprisingly good fit too!

The fold down seats would make access to my storage compartments much easier

I had been wondering about that as leather covered office chairs are pretty cheap - not sure if they are too wide for a standard book chassis though.

Definitely - at 520mm wide it would put quite a bulge in the sides! Good basis for a cut'n'shut job though - the squabs are nicely shaped and just need some more side support to be just right.

Am I being perverse, or does the tan/sand one look like it's wearing a bra?

More seriously, though, the base looks *really* thick which will raise you quite high in the chassis
