Steering wheel, leather or suede?
James - 12/7/05 at 12:18 PM

I'm just thinking about ordering an OMP steering wheel from Rally Design.

I'd prefer the suede wheel over the leather but I'm concerned it'll get wrecked by rain etc. is this the case? Does everyone else use leather steering wheels?

Also, is it the leather with the cool yellow stripe at the top of the wheel or the suede or both?

Thanks,
James

I had a suede-covered wheel (jonbeedle is now the proud owner) and I had no real problems with it. Sometimes it got marked, but a quick attack with a suede shoe brush soon fixed it.

I've got a plain leather one now (only 'cos the spokes are nice shiny aluminium!) and it's no different in use. Mind you, I usually drive using light bike gloves.

On steering wheels, when you measure a steering wheel diameter do they use the outside diameter, the middle of the wheel rim or the inside of the wheel rim. I am using a mgb column but the wheel has an outside diameter of almost 16 inches and makes for a tight fit. Also anyon know what removable steering wheel hub can be used on a mgn column?
sorry for the hijack,
Thanks
Dale
