givemethebighammer - 15/12/05 at 08:45 PM

anyone know where I can get 50mm wide black self adhesive velcro strip from (at a reasonable price). Everywhere I've found seems to want £4 - £5 per metre !

thanks

Fabric shops are the best source for velcro

Yep, get mine from a fabric shop.

Car builders solutions sell it . I have some left over I think but if you want it for securing the slack on seat belts don't bother mine only lasted a week .

I need it for sticking the neoprene pads I have finally got round to making to my MK seats. I think I'll be off to "auntie betty's sewing emporium" on Saturday ! as I need a few metres of the stuff

thanks

But the habadibberydashery (sp) stuff has only got lightweight adhesive. You need the industrial grade stuff from CBS.

rs (at www.rswww.com) sell everything, including wide stick on velcro (search 'velcro', only problem is they tend to sell in large amounts only (like a roll...) always useful stuff to have though

How much do you need?

pajsh - 16/12/05 at 12:40 PM

B&Q super store sells all sorts of pads, tapes, strips in various widths.

Might not be cheap I guess but at least you can buy what you want.

Avoneer - 17/12/05 at 12:50 AM

You can buy it at B&Q.

Thanks, went to B & Q in the end, not at all cheap, but it was a good excuse to take the tiger out for a spin today in the sunshine.
Is it me or is B&Q starting to sell everything ? They seem to have toasters, toys, bikes and all manner of other non DIY stuff for sale today ? (Maybe just a Christmas thing ?)

Nope, they are getting quite diverse lately. My most popular lines are their alloy extrusions and nut & bolts ...... can't think why
