sheet rubber or foam supplier
Dillinger1977 - 31/1/06 at 09:12 AM

can anyone recommend a supplier for some sheet rubber or high density foam. im thinking 2-4mm.

its for some GRP seats, i'd like to put some 'pads' on. not to make it more comfy, but to minimise slippyness, cold, scratches etc.

preferably black or grey. (that rules camping mats out, even though they are probably too thick anyway!)

this is a photoshop job of what i'd like to do:

cheers!

Look for neoprene, i.e. the stuff they make wet suits out of.

Found some here http://www.cisdirect.co.uk/proddetail.asp?prod=080%2D4030%2A%2A
but that was a quick google, I've never used them.

Thats quite a good idea, how do they look?

Are those MNRs seats Rog? I only realised the other day that they do untrimmed ones. Are they shiny both front and back?

I was planning on using neoprene too for the same reasons as you, it shouldnt absorb much water if the car gets caught in the rain and it should be a bit more comfy/warm.

yep they are mnr ones and nope they arent shiny on the back. i was planning on either glueing some thin carpet stuff on the back, or sanding it down a bit to a smooth finish and painting it.

im currently more concerned as to how to mount them. they dont have a flat bottom or inserts so are a swine to mount!
probably quite easy if you just bolt them straight through the floor pan but im having trouble finding the right place to put them. long legs+short arms means i'have to have them very 'sit up' and it looks odd.

oh and thanks for the neoprene suggestion, that stuff looks good so far!

Carpet would look good. Can they be rail mounted?

I like the shape of them though - do they have a 5th harness hole between your legs?

Do you have any pics Im sure therell be some advice re fitting them.

Hi Mark,

I'd be interested in some 4mm in black as well.

I have always used the dense foam camping mats. They are often yellow but the cheaper ones can be had in black and cost a few pounds each.

I know a guy in cyprus who makes all our wet suits to measure. He has many different thickness of neoprene, and in many many colours , tangerine, lime green, shocking pink etc.

I will ask him how much basic black is to do two seats in say 4mm thick neoprene if you want. just let me know as I was going to get some sent over for my two seats.

Regards

Mark

yes that would be great if you could ask. 4mm black, 1metre*1metre would be ideal
let me know how you get on.
cheers!
