What to use for pedal anti-slip
Matthew_1 - 31/1/06 at 06:39 PM

Whats the best thing to put on a set of home made pedals to make them SVA "anti-slip" compliant - appologies if this post should be in the SVA section. Cheers.

Grip tape works well but it will put holes in your racing boots pretty quick . Street shoes should be fine though.

I went into the local skateboard / snowboard emporium and asked for some grip tape or deck tape. The young girl working there smiled brightly and said "Of course - is it for your son?". I told her it was for me and she looked a bit taken aback, then she recovered her composure and said "Cool!!". I think she had an image in her head of me down at the nearest half-pipe. As a result they gave me the tape for free. I didn't tell them what it was for.

Anyway - here are the finished pedals.

Cheers,

Eddy

Hand throttle in the middle of the steering wheel, plus a choke lever and manual advance/retard. You'll all be fitting them soon!

I use skateboard grip tape. The only problem is the adhesive gets soft when things get a bit hot and the grip tape moves or comes off.

I would guess 3M do a product at big cost!

Araldite John!

jos - 2/2/06 at 01:51 PM

I used MAC#1 supplied Apache helicopter running board/access step grip tape.

Beat that.

Skateboard tape would probably do the same job but doesnt quite have the prestige

DarrenW - 2/2/06 at 02:51 PM

I used the Mk2 Apache full attack Sports Lightweight grip tape

britishtrident - 2/2/06 at 03:26 PM

Alternative solutions

Make the pedals to fit standard rubbers.

Pop rivet on some alloy diamond tread plate.

Markp - 2/2/06 at 06:00 PM

Go to halfrauds and ask to see what pedal rubbers () they have.

I belive transit rubbers fit the floor pedal box, and then use the grip tape for the acc pedal
