Heater fan - choices!
pk - 20/3/06 at 01:30 PM

Hello,I'm in the process of dreaming up a sutable de-mistiing system. Does anyone have any idea of a suitable heating system other than the mini as these are getting to be rare in most scrap yards. If possible I'd like to fit just a fan at first followed up by a heater matrix, so a suitable doner for a fan - any ideas?

Polo heater looks good. I doubt a fan on it's own will pass SVA as a demisting device, but you could try a fan from a PC if you are going to have a go (120mm, 92mm or 80mm are easy to get all are 12v) - try maplins if you want a new one.

I have some nice, new ally bodied, flat axial fans, around the 80mm mark (will check), 12v, low current drain. Cover the P&P and a couple of quid and you can have a couple. U2U me and I'll send the spec.

I'm pretty sure you will need heat as well as a fan to satisfy Mr SVA.
CBS do a nice one but not exactly cheap.

Other possibles (for demist only, not real heat):

Fine wire heated windscreen from Caterham
Here Costs best part of £300

Couple of 12v camping hairdryers
Here About £13 each (site only choosen as it was first on the list at google )

Just wait till you've done the sva to fit the windscreen, the heaters are pretty useless in sevens anywayfor demisting i've found.
Plus you'll reduce weight a tad
