Fitting luke harnesses
esn163 - 30/5/06 at 05:28 PM

Hi just had our Luke harnesses delivered but not too sure of the correct way of fitting them.

Firstly, does anyone know what thread is needed on the bolt for the Indy welded harness mounts since the bolts supplied seem very tight as if the thread is wrong (is this normal with seatbelt mounts to have a very secure fit? just seem very tight so don't want to force it and end in stripping the threads).

Also, does anyone know what order the bolt goes through each of these?

Thanks in advance

not too sure of the thred but some powder coating may have got into the threads thus making it tight, i just kept working the bolt back and forth cleaning the ecess powder coat off with a little wire brush

Thread is generally 7/16 UNF
this is the order to thread them on the bolt:

plain washer
ripped washer
seat belt
stepped bush
fibre
washer
threaded bush

SB
SB

If possible get a tap and run it down the thread.
An alternative is to get an old 7/16 UNF bolt and file a groove across the threads at the botton then lubricate it and run it carefully down each bush. Working it back and forth as you go.

Can I confirm these are SVA Compliant - as I heard they were E-marked.

I checked the SVA documentation and it does say if they are fine?

Can anybody confirm this?

They are E marked and can be released with one movement so I can't see why not. Think these are the only things that they check at SVA which they may have problems with since otherwise they are like the normal style ones and I can't see why they could fail. Think someone said they had passed at Nottingham with these harnesses anyway.
