Noticed the handbrake in my brothers girlfriends Megane yesterday and wondered if anyone had made anything similar for their 7. Can't get any pictures loaded for some reason but its like a square design with the button on the right side for your thumb. Thought it might be a bit more space saving than the standard design.
Is it this one ?

Thats the one, ta. Whaddya reckon?
Crap for handbrake turns
I still reckon a vertical one just infront of or just behind the dash is the way to go.
I got peed off banging my elbow on the normal position one in my Tiger.
I looked at the Megane one, but thought it would be awkward to pull with it being so far back on the tunnel top when trying to pull it from a seated
position.

I'm toying with the idea of using an extendable luggage handle placed in the center console of the dash. It already has a button and the
mechanism can be drilled to give the desired clicks.
That would get it removed from the trans tunnel and hopefully within reach when strapped in.
CaLviNx, you going to make it normally on (ie electricity from switch unbrakes it)???
Seems to make sense to do it that way round, otherwise when you switch off the engine you lose handbrake function
I've toyed with the idea of using actuators for the handbrake, but eventually went the MR2 route.
Mark, will yours drain the battery when stationary?
I wouldn't rely on it esp. if you have a battery cut off switch!!

I've also been looking at the Megane handbrake as 'something different'. But how about the handbrake from the new Ford S-MAX? Looks
even better IMO.
S-MAX handbrake
Don't know how easy one of these (or the Megane one) would be to fit to a seven, though.
Is that mounted vertically or horizontally? Looks good.
I think it's mounted vertically. Does't look like there's much room for 'travel' though. But looks nice, I think.

Does it push down and pull up like the scuttle mounted ones or rock backwards and forwards. If it pulls up it would be awkward from where you sit in a sevenalike.
Not sure how it works, as I've only seen it in pictures. But looking at the slots where it goes into the tunnel, I'd say you push it forwards to engage. Kind of like in an airplane when you want to take off!!

the steering wheel safe zone for SVA. Anyone see a problem with this?
Where is a good source for cables I could adapt to run this to the back wheels?

I have been planning on one like the last post. My old ford courier (1980) had a T handle just infront of the shifter and worked wonders for hand
brake turns. Just pull straight out and it locks or pull out with a twist and it just snaps back.
Does not take up any space.
