Padded dash / SVA type question
chrsgrain - 15/1/07 at 08:29 PM

Hi guys...

below is my dashboard - I know the lower edge will have to be padded so that you can't feel the edge (whatever that means in practice) as the radius is about 5mm, but are there any rules about the edges of the 'glovebox'? About to take it to be trimmed (too chicken to do it myself!) and need to be sure what I'm asking for...

Thanks

This is from the cobra Club...

"Beware of leaving the glovebox open without a lid. My Sumo failed SVA a month ago as the examiner said a glovebox without a lid is a shelf and different regs apply. Has to be 25mm high (it wasn't), be radiused to at least 3.2mm (it was) and covered with a non rigid material (it was).....

The SVA guy measured from the lower edge of the dash to the top of the 'shelf'. On mine it's about 18mm & the minimum is 25mm. Solution for me is to temporary fix a cover over the hole and hey, I've got a glovebox and the normal 2.5mm edges applies."
