as per earlier thread i am trying to mount a set of bucket seats in my 106, i have figured out a way to mount them that should work well.

However removing the passenger seat has thrown up a problem, the seat belt socket thingy, (not sure what its called!) is mounted to my seats, while it does come off there is no mounting on my bucket seats to put it, presumably becuase its designed for harnesses. Is it ok to mount to my transmisson tunnel by driling a suitable hole and tapping? what sort of mounting is needed? ie thickness of metal etc

any help is appreciated

if you're doing that, you'll need to strengthen the tunnel with a bracing plate behind it.

the metal will only be a mil thick if that i'd imagine.

you can get strengthener plates from all the harness suppliers.

Personally I'd use a 3mm plate take some bolts and fittings from the top pillar mountings of a scrap car, then bolt through the plate to a nut with the correct thread, also found in scrap cars if you pull off a sill panel. You might also be lucky and find car that’s upsides down so you could chisel of the plate from the tunnel.

yeh you need some kind of strengthening plate, either welded on or bolted through...
are you planning on using seat belts with bucket seats...?
