Bit of a mistake on the dash
Pdlewis - 18/10/08 at 10:01 AM

So...

Made a bit of a mistake measuring the holes for my savage switches result being i have holes which fit tightly arround the outside of the switch body instead of letting the swich lip so it would hold its self in position.

The holes are just to the right of the steering wheel. Do you think i will be ok to cut and paintup a bit of 2mm ali strip (with correct size holes) and stick it to the dash. would it cause any sva issues?

I cant start the dash again as it is intergrated into the shuttle

Ill try and get some pics uplater

It'll be well within the exclusion zone at SVA so wont be a problem for radiused edges

Are you mounting the switches flush or protuding?

If protruding then have you considered flush mounting as it needs a slightly bigger hole...

if you fix the plate with the correct size holes to the back of the dash, the switches will just be even more recessed!

I am mountong them flush

so the idea is they will mount flush on the ali and the ali will be on the visable side of the dash not the back which would resses them

There won't be a problem with them were they are. The exclusion zone is 127.5mm from the edge of the steering wheel anyway so no problem.

"Measure twice cut one"
as the saying goes, problem is I've measured more than twice and still made mistakesD

Im not sure that i fully understand the problem, but can the holes be opened up a bit with a cone cutter?
