If I Tax my car on-line do I have to wait for the disc to arrive, before I can drive it?

It's still an offence to use a vehicle on the road without displaying a current tax disc. However, the DVLA website says you have 5 days grace which is how long it should take to get the disc in the post.
The DVLA/ANPR system will show your car as taxed and you'll have a referance to print out and take with you.

Failure to display doesnt apply if you have taxed over the net.

No, I believe there is a relaxation of "Failure to Display" to take account of online applications and because they can check if it's taxed or not. I think the relaxation is only 5 days though from date when the RFL started. Good luck with the online application, it kept saying there was a technical fault when I tried it last night.

no, i taxed online last year and first disc got lost in post dvla said it was ok to continue to drive until nes disc shows up. cause on computer u are taxed

As long as you are displaying a disc i.e the previous one you are legal.

Agree, once taxed on line, OK to drive.

Hi, it is ok for 5 working days as long as it is a continuation of an existing licence. if there is a gap you need to wait for the disk.
