Lowest Car
The lowest car is a radically modified Austin Mini, named "Lowlife" by its creator, Perry Watkins of Aylesbury, England. Measuring 60 cm (24
in) from the ground to roof, with 2.5-cm (1-in) ground clearance, it was completed in October 1999. Despite its diminutive size, the project cost
$15,800. It took 18 months to plan and a further three years to build. Based around a 1967 Austin Mini, parts of a further three Mini bodies were
welded into the final shell.

My car measures only 96 centimeters from floor to rollbar and the rollbar is 5 centimeters above my head and the ground clearance is 12
centimeters.
So 60 centimeters with a 2.5 centimeter ground clearance and no roof is not spectacular,the build of that car probably is
I've seen that thing in the flesh at a show. Looks ridiculous. Hasn't it got some fancy engine as well?

some radical V8 in the mini i beleive. he sold it at Stoneleigh a couple of years ago IIRC.

What parts were they? The only bits that look mini on that are the headlights and part of the windscreen surround. He's clutching at straws calling it mini based. Marco, it doesn't look nice it looks stupid and pointless.
back to the original point, wasn't the GT40 the flattest at 40" high? or am i imagining that?

40" is indeed VERY low.
What about a car called the Probe 15, ??think it was used in A Chocolate Orange. Saw it once at Stoneleigh a few years ago, also featured in C.C.C about 1969?? That was knee high to a grasshopper. Anyone else remember it?? Rusty

I think you mean Clockwork orange Rusty . The one used in the film was the M505 Adams Brothers Probe 16.

Peteff, you are right it was a Clockwork Orange, Wait till you get to my age , the old grey matter isn't what it was. the car i'm thinking of was based on or used a hillman imp engine and box. Could have been wrong about it being used in the film. but am fairly sure it was the Probe 15 .

The PROBE 15/16 is probably the lowest enclosed sportscar ever build.
That the Probe 16 used in a Clockwork Orange is one of the candidates for a restoration project as part of BBC's motoring programme.

That's why I think it was a Probe 16.
Wasn't the Probe 16 based on the old B.M.C. 1800 ?? The 15 was an earlier project , a similar shape but a lot smaller, just about room for the driver and passenger reclining. Was definetly at stoneleigh a few years ago . I remembered the car from an article in Car and Car conversions about 1968/69?? Talked to the then owner at the time about the car. This is a bit more detailed. The 1800 engine was used in Probe 16 rusty.
