Bespoke Bellhousing
scootz - 4/11/09 at 11:07 AM

Still struggling with the choice of gearbox to use with the RS4... T5 box seems the best was to go, but I'm still not convinced Tiger Cars Type-9 to Audi bellhousing will work on the T5 and dont want to risk £600 on finding out!

Sooo... anyone ever had a bespoke bellhousing made for them? Any indicative costs?

Does anyone know how similar or dissimilar the T5 pattern is to the Type-9... is it worth the gamble?

Borg Warner T5 and Ford Type 9 bolt patterns are completely different. It may be possible to use an adapter plate though.

I have used a porsche 924 turbo bellhousing and a adaptor to mount my audi engine to a type 9, bell housing was £30 and I made a fabracated adaptor. However it is kinda shallow but is possible to use a spacer which is standard on various audis ti space the bell from the block if more space needed.

The spacer is alloy so if where make your own bell it itself could be off use to you if make a alloy bell. I too would be intrested to see this article
