Hinges - Mental Block Help Needed!!!

Hi all, I've got a dashboard made from 2mm Ali with a glovebox. I want the glovebox lid to lie flush with the dash (obviously) and have no visible fixings.

I've got a catch for the top but I can't think what to do for the hinges, they need to be hidden behind the panel and allow it to pivot out so it'll open roughly 90 deg.

The hinges ideallly will affix to the lower inside edge of the dash.

Any suggestions?

Yeah I've got 2 sorts but they won't work in this application as the hinge is internal so the door jams as it opens outwards

the old fashioned way is to roll the edge of the alluminium on the door and the appeture it sits in and trap a pin (welding rod etc in the roll ie creating your own hinge hope that makes sense

You need horizontal pins on each side that are up a little and in a little from the bottom front edge.

Just as the top swings out and down the the bottom will swing in and up, but to a much lesser degree.

I'm sitting here looking at the paper out door on the front of my Canon printer at the moment
and this works in this way.

ZP steel concealed hinge,90deg free | eBay are a bit cheaper than RS and the postage with RS is a bit steep too.

That's a good find at that price but I think I'll go with RS No 340-2409 and use Paul/my bros suggestion. I live by an RS branch and have an Acc in work anyways.

If the bottom edge of the aperture is straight, then you could simply bond a length of right angle alloy along the inside edge of the dash, and then use conventional hinges.
