mx5 seats
Will mk1 mx5 seats fit into a Haynes chassis? I can get a pair at very reasonable £ but want to make sure they'll fit.
Thanks gary

No.
I should expand on that. They won't simply drop in. At the very least the recliner mechanism and hinge pretty much sit on the seat edge and the
transmission tunnel. However, with a 'small' amount of modification they will go in.
I have a pair of leather seats that I'm planning to modify. The first thing will be to replace the recliner ratchet with steel plate (to fix it
at one angle). I'll then remove the leather and 'squash' the seat back and base to make it slightly thinner before trimming the
sponge (if necessary) and replacing the leather. I think I need to gain about an inch max so just bringing in the edges of the seat should be enough.
I'll be keeping the seat rails so they still move back and forth.
This is what I've picked up from other build logs so I'm not trying anything new here. Although I seem to be the first one to have a
decent enough pair of leather seats to stick with those!!
(oh, and I'll be keeping the speakers in the headrests as well...)

Have a look here;

And the next few posts after that, it shows one way of modifying the seats. I don't like the way he's permanently fixed the back to the
car though.
