I am not keen on digital gauges for speedo or rev counters as they tend to move too fast to be read. Analogue needle types tend to be easier to
read.

I agree. I not so worried about digital speedo but not keen on a digital tacho which is the only thing that put me off the DD2.
LED displays also are a pain in direct sunlight LCD is so much better.

I prefer analogue but this one is nice:

yep; digital instruments are rubbish for instantaneous information. (I used to drive an astra GTE).
A dial will give information instantly.
for example if you have several dial guages for temperature calibrated so the norm is say 12 o'clock position, a quick glance at a number of
gauges, the human eye will immediately spot the bad one.
Now try that with a bunch of numbers; basically you cannot.
A look at an aircraft cockpit will show you that.
There is an optical illusion type thing where there are many smiley faces and one sad one; you'd be surprised how easily you find the different
face; not so easy with a bunch of numbers.
antoehr thing to do is see how quicky you can tell the time on a watch face with hands and one with numbers; hands win hands down.

I suspect its "each to his own" here but the research my mate did at lucas in the late 70s said quite clearly that for speed, a big number
"47" got the required information to the driver about 3 times faster than having to decide whether the needle was which side of what
line.
These days you need accuracy round 30mph from a dial that goes round to 180 and is also covered in kph markers.
Its aesthetics of course & many want a 'period' look. But if you want to know "am I breaking the speed limit?" at a
glance, a big digital readout of mph gives you that information quickest.
cheers

Having driven many, many vehicles with both analogue and digital gauges I would have to agree 101% with this.
I do have a slight sympathy with the analogue tacho argument which is why most digital tachos also incorporate a bar display.

I'm with you Brian - my Evodash is a good combination of analogue and digital.
