Attaching indicator stalks

I fancy machining a couple of stalks and sawing off the existing sierra stalks, but how to fit them the the plastic stubs? Ideas please.

I'm sort of thinking of machining a thin pin shape of the end, and drilling and arralditing it in. Can anybody think of a better way?

TIA

Rich

Yep, I bought a set but didn't use them after all. He cuts the plastic stalk flush and inserts a long grub screw with locknuts and pots everything with Araldite to ensure nothing comes loose .... except it did in my case and I returned them. The second set seemed better.
