2 seats or 3?

My design has been to have three seats: A centrally positioned driver, and two passengers either side, slightly further back. A little like the Aeon or McLaren F1.

Some niggles with steering rack and pedals started me questioning this, and whether I should revert to the traditional 2 seater.

Out of conversations, someone made a very real observation: Track days do not allow passengers in the rear seats of cars.

As this is a track car, I might find it a very lonely experience, not to mention the issue of tuition and instruction.

Anyone know if such a set up would be frowned upon by trackday organisers?

The SDR Storm uses the same arrangement. I would not have thought they would be classed as rear seats as they are only a little behind the driver - only way to be sure is to check with Trackday organisers you'd be likely to use.

I no longer run Furore Products or Furore Cars Ltd, but would still highly recommend them for Acewell dashes, projector headlights, dominator headlights, indicators, mirrors etc, best prices in the UK! Take a look at http://www.furoreproducts.co.uk/ or find more parts on Ebay, user names furoreltd & furoreproducts, discounts available for LCB users.
Don't forget Stainless Steel Braided brake hoses, made to your exact requirements in any of around 16 colours. http://shop.ebay.co.uk/furoreproducts/m.html?_dmd=1&_ipg=50&_sop=12&_rdc=1

The two seater in your sig - ever had problems at track days with passengers?

as above, i would say check with whoever would be operating your trackdays as most of the companies vary slightly, i recon the 3 seat is the way to go tho if the prganisers are fine with it!

Yeah - i really like the idea of 3 seats. But then trackdays aside. Receiving / giving tuition and sharing the experience with a passenger will be limited...

I have decided to go two seater, for a number of reasons.

I won't need a new rack
I'd like to be able to talk to the (possibly inexperienced) person who might be taking my car out.
I'd like to be able to recieve instruction / tuition.
It's another departure from what I originally set out to build.
There is a risk that trackday organisers may view them as rear seats - ie no passengers.
The driver will be further back, so safer in a frontal impact.
There will be marginally more space for the many things I may have ommitted (running pipe work and electrics though etc.) as well as for the bits and pieces I may want to take other than my passenger (tools, can of tyre weld etc.
I get to keep a tunnel, which is quite important structurally as it's effectively a second tube inside the chassis (radius of gyration.....) and helps combat torsion in the chassis.

I've convinced myself.....

Never got around to doing a trackday yet! It's a bit loud, but I don't think there would be any other probs with trackday organisers as it's road legal, has covered wheels & isn't a single seater.
