lighting for instruments etc
well, being a cheap bar steward i've decided to use the orignal seirra instruments repackaged into something a little less, early 80's
production looking
but they'll need new lighting, so i'm considering using cold cathodes
like those, but in white probably, they run off 12V through an inverter, only use about 3w each and chuck out a fair bit of light.
any thoughts?
cheers

Hi I cant remember exactly what it is called (fire wire, rope light) but it is about 3 mm thick and used by case moders and is flexible can be bent
round very tight curves similar sort of amp consumption you might want to have a look at it. It can also be cut to the length that you want.

As I was theatre technician up to a year ago, I have many years of rope light. All I would say is dont do it.
Also you can only cut true rope light at 32cm intervals due to the way its wired in serise then paralel (? not spelt right but too tired to think). If
you want to see how rope light is unreliable have a look at a christmas decoration next year when half of it doesnt work due to the expansion os the
copper wire in it over the summer.
There is some case mooding stuff called "ice blue" you can get from the states. It comes in two forms as either a flat sheet that
iluminates or as a string. Its far more reliable but not sure who makes/sells/imports it.

removed the old faces, they just peel off.And stuck them onThe back lighting shines thru the card I used so you can pick your colour.Ther are some
really crap photos on my ach'.Kellogs give really pooie cameras away these days.....
..Which was nice..

it's far cheaper from www.ebuyer.co.uk and i'm not really wanting any colours, which is why the cathodes seem better to me

The blue string would be plenty bright enough.
I have some of it and it is very bright.
The red by comparison is not so good, but may be enough to illuminate from the front of the clocks.
I would imagine that the yellow would be quite bright as well.
