runners, or floor mount?
Im going to be buying some seats soon. Of the bare fibreglass type, and to a MK Indy R.
Its going to either be some JK composites, or the ones kitcarparts sell.
Im not too sure how the jk's fit?, but the kitcarpart ones have 4 bolts mounted in which i could either bolt straight through the floor, or
mount to runners?
Now Im 6'2", but also quite lanky, so am going to need the seats as far back as possible.
Im guessing i could fit it further back by just bolting it through the alloy floor?
or would i be better fitting runners, so i can bolt the runners to the metal strips rather than just alloy? But will i be able to get it far enough
back?
So what would the best way to fit be?

I'd definitely put some sort of cross members in there for support.
It looks like the Midget is winning at the moment......

Depends if you want other less lanky people to be able to drive the car.
If not I'd not bother with runners. Make sure you get the position just right if not as you won't be able to adjust for comfort.

hmm, just had a sit on the floor, and i do really need to be right up against the bulkhead else my legs feel wrong.
There is also the other benifit of bolting is they can be bolted lower down.
Also the steel strips that are there might actually be in the right place.
My only worry about bolting straight down is, if i get it wrong, or measure wrong, im going to have some unwanted holes in the floor!
and no i have no plans for anyone else to drive it.

Don't worry about extra holes in the floor, it'll help drain off the water during our English summers

If you really are that tight in the car I'd suggest considering a moulded foam racing seat. No worries about holes in the floor.

No experience with them yet, but why don't you make foam ones? Cheaper than fibreglass and they'll fit like a glove. You wouldn't
spend more than 100 pounds if you tried. The only other thing to consider is the headrest you would have to bolt onto the roll bar.

I was going to post pretty much the exact issue as you have. I think im going for the bolting to floor option and was also looking at the seats from
kit parts direct but have read a lot of negative things about them.

I used a set of runners off a Citroen C2. Due to the shape of the bottom of the seats they hardly make any impact on the height and they slam the seat
right back against the bulkhead.

I have/had grp ones bolted through the floor. I am changing to a bench type seat now so going up about an inch or two in height but I get more width.
I wouldn't worry about runners. If someone smaller is to drive they can use a cushion behind them. My dad drove mine, is significantly shorter
than me and still fitted without a cushion.

I mounted my passenger seat to the floor, sitting on two rails of wood, so the rounded seat bottom would not touch. Murder to line up the holes
though.
