It trouble with the Wife - Seats

Much to the disgust of my good lady wife I purchased some fibreglass seats from ebay last week.

I had made some measurements, but also incorrectly assumed the base would be narrower than they actually are. And you guessed it they don't fit

There are two options open to me (both of which mean confessing to wifey)

1. Sell them and purchase some narrower ones. This does appear to be more difficult than expected...
2. Carefully cut 20mm from the middle and re-glass the two halfs together.

Thoughts?

I have wife / seat trouble too, she says the E Type seats aren't comfy, and talking about 47 years of having the stuffing knocked out didn't go down too well....

I think I'd have a go at sectioning them, take the strip out, tape them together with gaffer tape from the front, then grind the glass thinner where the join will be, and glass together using progressively wider strips of mat till you get back to thickness.

I'd go with option 1 as there easily available. Although I suspect option 2 would be possible I would never get it satisfactory due to ridges and other imperfections. I would also be concerned about the strength of the finished joint.

Got to be option 1.

Doesn't matter how good a job you make of chopping and rejoining they'll never be quite right and I suspect you'd end up unhappy with them.

I thought you where going to post the problem I have with my seats and Mrs. She has an ass like Jennifer Lopez and can't fit her derrière in the haynes roadster. Even accused me of arranging it deliberately.

Life moves pretty fast, if you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.
