seat water resistance
I have a pair of seats I fitted - not sure on the brand. Fairly standard comfy fake leathery type. I'm not on the road yet but it occured to
me that maybe in a car with no weather gear I should be swapping them for something more utiltarian. I don't mind a wet bum but don't
want them going rotten when I get caught in the rain.

I've sat in fibreglass seats with no more than neoprene sheet as padding (really for non-slip properties) and they were extremely comfortable.
Far more than I expected!

My fibreglass seats are very comfy, travelling the 250 miles from Lancaster to near Heathrow wasn't a problem at all. They don't have have
any padding either. I bought them from a member here, Triton.
Here is the website.
Only problem is if it does rain, the 'bucket' part of bucket seats lives up to its name.

You're not wrong, they can hold about half a gallon each!

I wouldn't worry about it. They will get wet and dry out. Replace what you have if they go bad, unless you haven't fitted yet and you are
thinking the bolt holes/rails will be different.
Mine are foamy vinal covered and have been fine.

I also have the fibreglass ones (from Mk) very surprisingly comfy!
I had to drill a small hole in the bottom though, which solves the 'bucket' issue in the wet
weight saving!
