quick release steering wheel

I'm think of fitting one of the above as another anti theft device (not for SVA man's benefit, but for real).

I have a few questions:

I'm a bit nervous about having a removable bit that does the steering. Is there a risk of them detaching accidently or them developing play that might affect the steering of the car ? (but then I guess F1 cars have them so they must be OK).

Where is the best place to buy a boss the will bolt on to the sierra steering column ?

Any particular model I should look for ?

I found this on ebay

not sure if this would be OK or too cheap or unknown quality to take a risk on ? Maybe a SPA or an OMP one would be a safer bet ?

thanks

My Indy has a removable steering wheel. Basically the wheel is held onto the steering column by a metal dowel that sits in a groove stopping the wheel from coming forward. Certainly seems safe enough, and as you say the F1 drivers manage it

As for who/what/where etc, sorry can't help, mine came like this

took a look back through the forum, a few people are using the raid unit

It should fit between my current boss and the wheel and hopefully stop any thieving scum stealing the car (well hopefully)

thanks

ive never been totally impressed by the £50 hex type ones - seem to be a bit sloppy. Ive been fortunate to inherit the raid snap-off boss - it has a very positive action and no sloppiness. only prob with mine is that it doesnt have the lock, but the two pull back bits are very strong and mates who have had one have never used the lock. Cant recomment it high enough.

I just need to suss out how to fit the removeable bit to the column - do i just need one of those £20 sierra (mountney etc) steering wheel bosses?

Picked up the Raid snap off item today (RAID warehouse is about 8 miles from my house). I may fit it tonight. I report back once it's on.
