Installing a heater..
I fancy using the engine to keep me warm through the winter, just the odd dry sunny winter day out you understand.
Anyone done this without it ending up an eyesore in the engine bay, and, is there any CHEAP compact units to buy off the shelf?

A friend of mine used to have a Westie many years ago. His solution was simply a hole with a closable flap into the drivers footwell from the engine
bay, to keep legs toasty warm from the heat of the engine bay.
Not sure what would have happened if the engine caught fire though!

Naah, he'd just do what you did in your avatar and pull the bonnet release to put out the fire
How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

VW Polo heater unit is pretty compact.
...and I just happen to have one going spare if your interested. Think I paid the scrappers £20 for it.

heater
Go very carefully if you put one behind the dashboard. Someone on this site suffered serious burns after a major leak on his.It prompted me to take
mine out.

Not that I've been in a 7 with a heater, but I just can't see it having much effect in such an open car. Different if you had full doors
maybe and certainly if you had full weather gear fitted.
I've found a thick pair combat style trousers, decent socks, several fleace layers, windproof with elasticated waist and cuffs, snood, crash hat
and gloves keep me plenty warm enough (even in the snow )

actually it makes a huge difference and my Falcon was much like a 7 with the hood down and the sidescreens off. It has a cortina heater matrix and is
usable in the winter even with snow on the road with the hood down its quite warm. Off course you also have the option to fit a tonneu cover to make
it even warmer.

Was thinking about the space over the diff... and blowing hot air out under the seat into the cabin.
Just a couple bits of copper pipe down the trans tunnel and bobs your uncle. No fear of leaks onto your feet or into the footwell. Saw that happen on
a Westy at a track day in the summer.

Just to give you an idea of the size. The one I've got has been snapped up from under your nose, sorry.

What about a heated pad for the seats that you can plug into cigarette lighter socket?
