floor mounted clutch pedal- leg movement
Hey guys.
I've never had a floor mounted clutch pedal before. I am wondering how much room I need to leave between my leg and the steering wheel to
operate the clutch.
While driving do you find you move your entire foot/leg (bend at the knee) or more with your ankle (heel doesn't move much)?

Hi
Pedals are very much personal preference.
I made mine hinged on the floor, pushing a hydraulic master cylinder and it is 90% ankle movement to operate.
The pedal ratio is the key.
Too much stroke required and your ankle will ache, to little and it's too stiff, and your ankle will also ache.
Just a case of finding the sweet spot.
I didn't have room for the cable actuator arm in the tunnel, (without mounting the engine/gearbox further forward,
then I couldn't reach the gear lever) hence the conversion to hydraulic clutch.
It has all worked out well in the end.

Never noticed that much difference to the operation or feel between a regular pendulum type or floor mounted pedal.
I do use my leg but there's not much between on and off anyway.
If there is so liitle room to your wheel, I'd start to be worried about wheter you will get in, or get comfortable at all

The pedal is a 6:1 ratio and will use a fairly light clutch so I think the pedal force will be low. Probably not low enough to just use my ankle
though. It will be a while before I get the hydraulics set up for the clutch though and need to finish my steering before then.
I am 6ft (183cm) tall with a 6ft wingspan. I dont have a lot of room for my legs to bend and since there is no elbow room in a locost my wheel is
quite far forward which interferes further.
Wheel has a disconnect so getting in and out will be easy  .
As it is now, I have room to bend my leg to operate the clutch under normal driving. Not sure about frantic competition driving though.
