Audio advice please
Cant think of anything better than blasting down some country lanes with the exhaust roaring and some good rock tunes blasting out...
So my thoughts are to mount a car amplifier, 250w Alpine, in the rear of the car with a 6" speaker mounted behind each seat working off an mp3
player. Has anybody tried anything similar, is it practical to try this in an open topped car?
BTW the car is a Haynes Roadster if its relevant....

Firstly you wouldn't need a dedicated amp just to run a 6" speaker, unless you mean 6x9s - which are different. Power of the speakers is
just as important as the power of the amp too, whats the point in loud volume if it starts to break up?
Honestly I don't see the point though, in a seven you'd need some seriously beefy equipment to get past the wind and exhaust noises -
probably a sub an amp and 6x9s to be able to hear it- that w533 be ex-ens5ve, b5g and heavy.
You're better 6ff with mp3 player and headphones.

it can be done, you would need a 3.55 jack to phono/rca cable, and plug it right in.
if you're using a 250W (which i assume is max power) amp, you want speakers which are rated a little higher.
6x9 speakers have a main cone which is 6" by 9", and usually have tweeters built in too, so will give a good full range. i'm not
convinced you'll need a sub, the 6x9s should give enough bass.
the only issue is, as said, it being an open top car with the exhaust right beside you.

i did this on my last car.
you will need half decent stuff as on the move it will have to be cranked up a bit.
i did it with an alpine amp and a set if infinity components,behind the seats and tweaters on the dash.the volume was good but lacked bass pretty
bad.
i liked it but as said headphones iare probably best.

I'd say don't do it at all. I did for a trip to the south of France. 50w amp under the dash and 2 nice Clarion 6 x 9s. At 40mph you had to
have it so loud, the sound started to distort. When you stopped your ears (and everyone elses) started bleeding. I could find no happy medium.
Pootling at 30 was just about bearable. At motorway speeds it was a complete waste of time.
