Duratec (I4)?

Is anyone using a 4 cylinder Duratec engine?

I'm looking at replacing the pinto in my Indy with one.

There are proprietary parts available for the modifications for installation but I'm also interested in any 'locost' based solutions.

mangogrooveworkshop,

Thanks, I've been following that site for quite a while now.

Having read that site I'm kinda interested myself!
Hicost was talking about them aswell so if they're good enough for him...

Interestingly they were talking on there about an MT75 without integral bellhousing. I've not heard of this before anyone got any details?

Cheers,
James

Maybe there could be scope for a group buy of certain installation necessities if there are enough people interested.

Anybody interested?

I spoke to the guy from BGH for ages last year at Donny. I was very impressed with his knowledge, friendless and happiness to explain loads of stuff in easy to understand terms. He showed me the mt75 with the bellhousing machined off then as it was on display.

I've seen an old Tiger with a Duratec in the process of being fitted. The ground clearance was almost non existant. I think seious sump mods will be required. Otherwise looked very nice.

The standard sump needs a lot of chopping to be any use. A few companies stock wet sump kits for the engine

Possibly off topic but does anyone know of a 7 using the 1.7 Zetec SE from the Puma?

There was a Westfield fitted with this engine. Can't tell you anymore than that I'm afraid. I'm sure I've seen piccies on a Website somewhere - try Google.

There's a guy here at work with that engine (IIRC) in a Westfield. Not seen it since last summer though.

I saw/heard it go past and assumed it was a BEC. He let me poke around the engine bay later- it was capable of some serious revs and loads of power for a small engine too.

The BDA did give that power but it probably cost the equivalent of about three times as much as the Zetec SE to achieve the same power. Shawspeed are offering 220bhp kits for just over £4400 inc VAT
