don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

You can usually buy dash mounts that screw on from ebay.

whats your dashboard like? whats it made of etc?
my satnav came with a black plastic disc which you're supposed to stick to your dash board (because they're very rarely smooth or flat on
any car) and you stick the suction bit to that.
maybe a bit of perspex stuck to the dash just for that purpose?
does your sat nav stick to windows ok though?

the only troube with having a non removably base on your dash is thieves can see you have a mount for a satnav... and then will break in just on the
off chance youve put it in the glovebox

Give the window a good clean, wipe the sat nav suction with a wet wipe and voila. Works for me anyway....

Sticks fine in the tin top, I'm sticking it to the dash, it is smooth that's the strange thing! I'll have another go tomorrow

I tried using my normal windscreen mount stuck to the dash / tunnel / interior / bodywork. It just wouldn't stick.
I now have a sticky mount fitted to the top of the tunnel, underneath the dash. Keeps the unit out of the sun / glare / rain.
It's Ok, can get a little bit shaky at times, but is pretty good.
In fact I have a spare one, as I thought I'd lost the adaptor.....
Doh!
It's like this:-
and you get an adaptor specific to your sat nav. Mine is a Navman, so I have one of these:-
You can pick them up from ebay / handtec etc

I have had mine stuck to the speedo.....obviously you cannot see the speedo but you can use the sat nav for that and it keeps it out of the wind.
