Seat Belt Mounts

I see that in most threads regarding seat belt mounts, 7/16" UNF is always quoted. Is there any reason for not using M12 bolts for the mounts? (IVA or otherwise).

The reason I ask is because I am looking for threaded inserts for my upper harness mounts (I am putting them through the roll bar cross member) and the only ones I've seen so far are 7/16" UNF but they are only 1" long, the tube I am using for the cross memebr is approx 40mm O/D.

Any input thankfully received.

IVA says 7/12" unf or equivalent strength, so anything stronger is fine.
have a look at the manual and specs for cap head bolts for comparisons. going by that, and as long as the IVA man knows his stuff, smaller diameter cap head bolts will be up to the job

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

But they will also need to fit the harness...

I seem to remember that the old SVA was as previously stated, but a minimum of 11mm diameter

If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation
