Dash padding

Just making my SVA dash (the nice carbon one will have to wait until after). I intend to glue some camping roll mat to the front of a piece of MDF then cover it in vinyl material.

Questions are;

1. Do you cut the padding right up to the edge of the dash or leave a gap (I read somewhere you should leave a gap of about 5mm between the edge of the dash and the foam ?)

2. With 6mm MDF and 6mm of padding will I still need to add material to get the correct radius on the bottom edge ?

thanks

If you pad it over the edge of the dash then pull the vinly tight while you staple it at the rear it will give you a soft curve that should be o.k. as long as the padding is still compressable.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

thanks, this dash doesn't have look brilliant, just OK. I intend to change it for something more "appropriate" post SVA
