Fiat Punto mis-fire. Help please???
Hoping for an answer from the land of locost please.
My neighbours Fiat Punto has developed a mis-fire.
It is a 2000 model with a 1.2 engine.
When engine put under load, especially if in a gear too high it, it mis-fires a little.
It has had new leads, plugs etc.
The injectors and engine in it have only done approx 30,000 x miles.
The Lambda sensor has done approx 130,000. Does anybody think it could be knackered, or am I barking up the wrong tree???
Thanks in anticipation.
Norm

My Fiat had a similar problem which turned out top be one of the coil packs . found out later Fiats tend to eat coil packs !!!

Very probable to be the head gasket, they are VERY prone to it. ECU's also go, but the EM lamp comes on in the dash if it is that, they lose 2
cylinders.
If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation

As above, I run a couple of those engines. Lambda is really a service item. Next to check is plugs, leads, coils.

Lambda will be very tired at that mileage, but unusual for Lambda fault to give issues only under high engine load since they aren't used at
WOT.
Where both coil packs replaced? It's not uncommon for a dying coil pack to damage the ECU on these...

wont be lamba at high rpm as they are only narrow band.
it will be either a coil pack or the fuel filter. had the same issue on one of my puntos once. turned out to be fuel filter.
