zx10 or zx12
taking it to consideration price difference if there is one, weight off the two unit and also the bhp which engine would u consider the best for your
money

not too sure on price but i would probably go zx12 or if money was no problem a zzr1400

a zx10 makes zx12 and even 14 power in a bike...

zx12 probably a bit cheaper than a zx10 due to age of engine
zx10 a good chunk lighter
zx12 a good chunk torquier
both have similar BHP
zx10 needs a 3.38 sierra diff or 3.21 freelander zx12 seems ok on 3.62 sierra
If your building a real light car the 10 would be my choice, if you will carry a passenger for any length of time the 12 may have an edge, but not by
much.

my fitted with the seirra 3.62 diff with independant drive shafts how much would a 3.38 diff cost me than to run the zx10

Scott Sheridan performed several giant slaying acts with a ZX10r in his Indy in last year's Scottish hills and sprints.
The ZX10r seems to be a good call.

Scott Sheridon s motor was a 08/9 zx10 and he wooped em with it
also supplied a few other s from north of the border with zx10 they all agree better than there old motors

I had a Indy with a zx10r, great engine on road and track, but Ive also driven a zx12r engined car on track and I would say although there's
not alot in it the zx12r had the edge, like Bigrich says if your building a scratch built car, and are able to make it super light, the zx10r is a
nice motor, but if your retro fitting one into your car I would go for the zx12r, you can keep your diff and shafts

Both should produce about 160bhp at the
wheels but as has been stated the ZX12 will have more torque and therefore be more drivable. The 12's a heavier engine and some will argue
it's better dry sumped making it even heavier - John Cutmore was running his wet sumped in RGB last year and went through more engines than I
had hot dinners.
Not much in it price wise, the 10 is probably slightly cheaper, especially if taking dry sump into consideration. Gearing could be an issue in a front
engined car.
AB Performance do a baffled billet sump for the 10.

I decided on a ZX12r
Although I haven’t fitted it yet I decided on a ZX12r, my thinking was as follows:
Weight between possible engines is less important in a car because the total vehicle weight is about twice that of the bike, this halving the effect
of any difference, all bike options are much lighter than equivalent powered car engines.
Torque is king in a car, because of the extra weight a flatter power curve and more torque will make it ‘real world’ faster than a similar powered but
more peaky engine.
As for price I had narrowed my choice to ZX12 and Busa, the zx12 produces similar power to a pre 08 Busa and costs about half as much. Even including
a billet swing sump from AB it still came out way cheaper than any Busa option
At the end of the day we’re all comparing apples with apples they’re all good engines, price and personal preference will probably make the final
decision for you

Numerous track days, drag events and over 15,000 miles of road driving and still on the original clutch....... I believe simpletons thought that the
moon was made of cheese too?
