Fibreglass seat harness holes and mounting

I have recently bought a Midtec Spyder, but unfortunately could not fit into it with the seat it had in. I'm 6'2" and my complete head was sticking above the windscreen.

I decided to take the seat out of my MGF and put them in the spyder son that I could fit them further back and bolted to deck.

Even with this, I was looking over the screen a little so I decided to mow the back mounts off flat and glass them up, and raise the front of the seat up. So reclining the seat back and allowing me to look through the screen.

The problem I have now is mounting the harnesses.

In the MGF , no problem really, just straight through the seat harness holes.

But now they are in the Midtec the harness holes in the seats are very low.

I was going to make a harness bar and attach it to between the rear stays of the roll hoop, but this would mean the harnesses going over my shoulders, down through the seats and then back up again.

Can I just mount them lower behind the seats, or should I cut some more harness holes in the seats further up to allow them to go through higher.

Are the harness holes in the seat classed as the mounting height?

Before you judge a man, walk a mile in his shoes.

By that time, who cares.

You're a mile away, and you've got his shoes

Looking at the picture of your seat I would have thought that if you put the holes any higher they would be in the head rest portion of the seat. Therefore your shoulders would be up on the head restraint and in turn your head would not have any prevention of whiplash. I had this problem with hieght in my MK Indy, I am 6' 6" and found my knees were jamming on the steering wheel, I mounted shell seats with no padding directly to the floor. I also pitched them slightly forward rather than reclining them as you show in your lower diagram this coupled with 250mm diameter dished wheel solved the problem (well almost, could still do with being a few inches shorter). In my case the screen isn't a problem as I have not got one only a wind deflecter. Maybe in your case low back seats, or neatly trim off the tops of your existing seats, would be better with the seat belts coming over the top them, not through slots, then you could make up a padded section on the roll bar as a head restrant.
