Vw passat help (suspension)
51 plate 1.8 t, broken front spring, STD spring around 20 notes, checked it as sports suspension fitted vag parts only and vag prices.
Can I change the complete front strut for a STD one (both sides of course) ?
Not seen the car yet it's step daughters partners she rang me for advice, rang for parts that's when I got the news 20 notes or does it
have vag sports suspension fitted, checking chassis number confirms sports suspension, what's the physical difference, anyone know ?

The sports suspension sits about 40mm lower than a standard car.
Cheapest way to fix this problem would be to replace both front springs.

The struts should be interchangeable, as should the springs. Obviously have a matched pair!

Are the struts the same aside from valveing maybe ?

Sport struts are red oxide colour and are stiffer ride. Standard shocks are black. The springs are lower and slightly stiffer. I think 20mm.
If you change to normal you would and shocks and springs for both sides as the ride would be terrible and unsafe. Recommend the rears changed to
match also.
