Heater

s my car is off the road for most of the summer, and I'm planning to use it more in the winter I want to fit a proper heater. I have a roof and screen so need something that can heat and demist it properly [I currently have an electric heater which is a bit lame].

Other than the obvious Mini unit or one of these:

Which other car heaters can be easily adapted?

I believe a VW Polo heater is good but not sure which one.

Thanks

My old Golf 2 had quite a compact unit, it sat on the transmission tunnel. I only know that because it wasn't connected when I bought the car, and it wasn't until I plumbed it in I realised it was almost sieve-like in it's ability to hold water...

I have used one of those micro heaters in your picture, very nicely made and small, also used their bulkhead connectors for the pipes.

My heater was bodged out of the heater matrix and fan unit from a Ford Cortina MkV.

I built a box to hold it and an exit into the cars cabin and to some windscreen demisters.

Works pretty well and passed SVA

It's the black box next to the battery and agianst the bulkhead.

Polo heater unit is pretty small unit and self contained. Think it's mk3 Polo but not sure.

Suzuki Samurai is narrow, but quite tall. It does come with more settings than a Mini one.

MGF might be worth a look as well, quite simple system.
