Smiths mechanical gauges
Hi,
Anyone know where I can get a Smiths mechanical water temp sender and cable to suit a xflow? Apparently the ford OE ones won't work with this
gauge.
Thanks
Jon

It's the capillary type I believe. There is a small section of cable still attached that has a piece of wire with a coil around it.

Ah bugger - just took it apart and it looks like it should all be one connected unit. The cable doesn't come off at the back and runs into the
unit. I guess it's toast once the cable is cut.

The capillary type is filled with a liquid or gas (can't remember which) that when heated increases the pressure moving the needle around the
gauge , Not supposed to be dismantled . Speedy Cables repair Smiths instruments ,

Use an inline adapter in by-pass or top hose.

As britishtrident above says, there is a boss in the top hose of my crossflow for the temp sender. Used to be a capillary guage, I've now gone
all posh and digital!

Thanks, I'll see if Speedy Cables can repair, if not I'll add in an electrical one which is cheaper. My block has a connection for the
temp sensor just below the top elbow on the head.
