front firewall query
Not sure if this is the correct category for this query or not...
When looking at my car this morning i started thinking about the hole where the steering column passes through the front bulkhead. Does this need to
be sealed off with some kind of rubber boot or something, or is it OK to have a clearance hole? i.e. an air gap between the engine bay and the
cockpit.
I know it is probably irrelevant on this type of car, but i am concerned that it may be an SVA issue.
Any comments or advice appreciated.

What steering column are you using? if you are using a sierra unit use the sierra lower bush kit .supports the column and also fills the hole . Rusty

No problems with SVA and holes in bulkhead, if you intend to race it's a different story though.

As rusty says - it's like a rubber grommet type thing that fills the hole... make sure it goes in the correct way otherwise the sleeve falls
out.

Thanks for the pointers. I am using the column from the donor Corolla and the first joint lands more or less where the bulkhead is. If it is not
considered a problem for SVA then that is fine with me, otherwise i will make some attempt to solve the problem.
I have no plans to race the car.....but then i had no plans to build a car a little over a year ago!!!
