Recommendations for double din stereo
Hi all,
The other car is a 54 plate focus. Obviously being this old it's not got Bluetooth or anything fancy.
I was looking for a recommendation for a double din stereo which would also work with the built in ford amp/sub in the boot, and the volume/track skip
stalk.
Ideally with CD player too.
Does anyone know of something locost to replace the old ford unit.

By all means call me tight fisted, but...
I find the free to use Google Maps satnav on my phone just fine. Gets me where I need to go.
People sometimes send me links to places and off I go.
Uses minimal data and you can download the route on a WiFi connection before you leave.

Don't really deal with ICE but the few occations I have had to*, I've found aftermarket units invariably don't talk to OE
column/steering wheel switches.
Also some of the cheaper (but very fancy looking) ones have incorrect info for the wiring.
*usually mates who don't take the hint that my excuses really mean, bleep off!

Try universal Xtrons or Eonon android jobs. I had one in my M3 that was a direct fit, that was Xtrons, was a lower model so a little laggy, then got a
universal Eonons double din for my Kia and it worked well. In our Sharan, its a Jap import so the importer changed the headunit to a good spec Xtrons
and its fully integrated, controls, climate control notifications, even the reverse camera supports the steering angle to give approx reverse routes.

This probably doesn't answer your original query but I'd like to offer it as a suggestion. For my last few cars I've essentially given
up on the head unit, and I run everything off my phone. The only thing the head unit is used for is an amp for the normal speakers.
Depending on the car there are a few options, but typically for non-Bluetooth head units some wired auxiliary input. From my Mondeo of similar lineage
I remember there being a 3.5mm input, although I'm not sure you'll have the same. Going for this option is (usually) a lot cheaper, it stays
away from poor performing chinese head units, but you would lose the track skip function (volume and your sub would still work as before).
As mentioned it isn't an answer to your query, but possibly an alternative solution.

Going back a few years when I spent my life driving / selling for work, I had a Parrot system fitted. It allowed Bluetooth connection from phone to a
non Bluetooth head unit. Don't think they were that expensive and it worked perfectly for phone connection.

Thanks, that's the sort of thing I was looking for. Someone who could give a manufacturer, and who had some experience with the brand.
